Tipping is something that can be easily mastered. Tipping
appropriately and generously is a true mark of class
and sophistication. Tipping well for good service isn’t
an option, it’s a requirement. Knowing how much
and when to tip will not only show your wedding vendors
that you appreciate their hard work, it will leave a
lasting impression for future services rendered. Have
your Best man or father help you with dispersing these
tips, but try to thank everyone individually regardless.
Here is a
guide for knowing when and how much to tip:
Before the BIG DAY:
Entertainment: 20% of the fee
Manicurist/Pedicurist: 15%
Barber: 15%-20%
Shoe Shine: $1-$3
Chauffeur: 15-20%
Hair Stylist: 15-20%
BIG DAY:
Religious Officiant: This is normally done by the
best man. He will give the officiant
an envelope containing anywhere between $100-$150.
This is not considered a tip!
Ceremony Muscians:
$35-50 for a piano player or musical director. $15-$20
per musician for hired performers.
The Reception:
Valet: $2 to $5.
Caterer:
15%-20% of bill. This may already be included.
Wait staff:
You may want to tip staff either taken from or in
addition to the overall gratuity. $20 per person is
the norm.
Bartender:
$1 per drink. Regardless if its open bar or not. Some
contracts may include tips, so ask the contractor
if you can include this in the overall bill.
DJ Service:
$15-$20. More if the DJ is working alone.
Band:
$15 to $20 per band member.
Misc:
Cab Driver:
15% to 20% of fare. Slightly more if you’re
in a “rush” or if he delivers your child.
Door men:
$1
